Free Guide to Canceling Your Uber Eats Pass Subscription

Understanding Uber Eats Pass and When You Might Want to Cancel

Uber Eats Pass is a subscription service that Uber offers to customers who want to save money on food delivery orders. When you subscribe to this service, you pay a monthly or annual fee upfront. In return, you receive benefits like free delivery on qualifying orders and reduced service fees when you use the Uber Eats platform.

As of 2024, Uber Eats Pass costs $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year. The annual option works out to about $8.33 per month if you break it down, which is why some people choose that plan. However, the subscription only makes financial sense if you order food delivery regularly. If you find yourself not using the service much anymore, or if you've discovered other food delivery options that work better for your situation, canceling might make sense for your budget.

Some people sign up for Uber Eats Pass during promotional periods when they get a discount or a free trial. Once that trial period ends, they realize they don't want to pay the regular price. Others subscribe because they were ordering frequently at one point in their life, but their circumstances change—maybe they start cooking at home more, move to an area with fewer restaurants, or simply decide the cost isn't worth it anymore.

Understanding your reasons for wanting to cancel can help you decide if this is the right choice. You might also want to check your recent order history on the Uber Eats app to see how much you've actually been using the service. If you're spending less than $9.99 on delivery fees and service charges per month, the subscription isn't saving you money.

Practical Takeaway: Review your Uber Eats spending over the last three months. Add up all the delivery fees and service fees you paid. If this total is less than $30 (three months of the monthly subscription), canceling would save you money going forward.

Locating Your Subscription Settings in the Uber Eats App

Before you can cancel your Uber Eats Pass subscription, you need to know where to find it in the app. The location of subscription settings can vary slightly depending on whether you're using an iPhone or Android device, and it can also change if Uber updates their app design. However, the general process remains consistent across devices.

On both iPhone and Android, start by opening the Uber Eats app on your phone. At the bottom of the screen, you'll see several navigation tabs. Look for an icon that typically shows a person or profile picture—this is usually in the bottom-right corner. Tap on this tab to enter your account area. This section is sometimes labeled "Account," "Profile," or just shows a person icon.

Once you're in the account section, you should see several options listed. These might include settings related to payment methods, addresses, preferences, and subscriptions. Look specifically for options labeled "Subscriptions," "Uber Pass," "Uber Eats Pass," or "Membership." In some versions of the app, this option might be under a general "Settings" menu. If you don't immediately see a subscriptions option, try scrolling down—it's often near the bottom of the account menu.

If you're having trouble locating this section, try using the search or help function within the app. Most versions of the Uber Eats app have a search feature that lets you type in keywords like "subscription" or "cancel pass." This can quickly direct you to the right page. You can also access your account settings through the Uber Eats website on a computer, which some people find easier to navigate.

Practical Takeaway: Take a screenshot of the path you follow to reach your subscription settings. This can be helpful if you need to reference it later or if you want to show someone else how to find this information.

Step-by-Step Instructions for Canceling Through the Mobile App

Once you've located your subscription settings in the Uber Eats app, the actual cancellation process is straightforward and takes just a few taps. Here's how to move through each step:

After tapping on the subscriptions or Uber Eats Pass option in your account menu, you should see information about your current subscription displayed on the screen. This will show you details like the subscription type you have (monthly or annual), the amount you're paying, and the date your next payment is scheduled. Take a moment to review this information to make sure you're canceling the right subscription.

Look for a button or link that says "Cancel Subscription," "Cancel Pass," "Manage Subscription," or something similar. This button or link is usually displayed prominently on the subscription details page, often in red or another contrasting color to make it stand out. Tap on this button to proceed with cancellation.

The app may then show you a confirmation screen or ask you questions about why you want to cancel. Uber sometimes displays offers on this screen—for example, they might offer you a discount to keep your subscription active. You can read these offers if you want, but they're optional. You don't need to take any action on them to continue canceling. Simply look for a "Confirm Cancellation," "Yes, Cancel," or similar button and tap it.

After you confirm the cancellation, the app should display a message confirming that your subscription has been canceled successfully. This confirmation message may also tell you when your current subscription period ends. For example, if you canceled mid-month on a monthly plan, you might still have access to Uber Eats Pass until the end of that month. If you have an annual plan, you would typically still have access until the annual renewal date.

Keep this confirmation information for your records. Some people take a screenshot or note the cancellation date and time. This can be useful if questions come up later about your account or if you're checking to confirm the cancellation went through.

Practical Takeaway: After canceling, return to the subscription settings page one more time to verify that the cancellation was processed. The subscription should no longer be listed as active, or it should show a status like "Canceled" or "Ending on [date]."

Canceling Your Subscription Through the Website

If you prefer using a computer or if you're having trouble with the mobile app, you can cancel your Uber Eats Pass subscription through the website. Many people actually find this method easier because the website gives you more space to see all the information and buttons clearly.

Open a web browser on your computer and go to the Uber Eats website. Look for a sign-in option, usually located in the top-right corner of the page. Sign in using the same login information you use for your phone app—typically your email address or phone number and your password. Make sure you're signing into the account that has the Uber Eats Pass subscription you want to cancel.

Once you're signed in, look for an account menu or profile icon, usually displayed in the top-right corner of the website. Click on it to see account options. From this menu, look for "Account Settings," "Settings," or "Subscriptions." Click on the appropriate option. The website layout may be slightly different from what you see in the app, but the options should be similar.

On the account or subscriptions page, you should see information about your active subscriptions. Find the Uber Eats Pass subscription and look for a button or link that says "Cancel," "Manage," or "View Details." Click on this to see more information about your subscription and the cancellation option.

As with the app, Uber may show you a confirmation screen or offer you a discount to keep your subscription. These are optional, and you don't need to engage with them. Simply look for the confirmation button to complete the cancellation. Once you click it, you should see a message confirming that your subscription has been canceled, along with information about when your access ends.

The website cancellation process works the same way whether you're using Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or another browser, so your choice of browser doesn't matter. If the website seems slow or isn't loading properly, try clearing your browser's cache or using a different browser.

Practical Takeaway: If you cancel through the website, you can also use that same login to cancel through the app, or vice versa. Both methods affect the same account, so you only need to cancel once. Choose whichever method feels more comfortable for you.
