Getting Paramount Plus on Your LG Television

Paramount Plus is a streaming service that offers movies, TV shows, and original content. Many LG Smart TVs come with the ability to install Paramount Plus directly through the TV's app store. This guide provides information about how to access Paramount Plus on an LG television without requiring additional hardware like a streaming device or cable box.

LG Smart TVs running webOS (LG's operating system) typically have built-in app stores where you can find Paramount Plus. The specific steps may vary slightly depending on which model of LG TV you own and which version of webOS it uses. Some older LG TV models may not have Paramount Plus available through their app stores, but many models from 2016 and newer support the service.

Before you begin, make sure your LG TV is connected to the internet. This can be done through WiFi or an ethernet cable. Without an internet connection, you will not be able to install or use Paramount Plus. You should also have a Paramount Plus subscription or know how to create one, though this guide focuses on the installation process rather than subscription details.

Understanding what your LG TV model can do is the first step. Not all LG televisions are Smart TVs with app capability. If your LG TV is from before 2016 or is a basic model without Smart TV features, it may not support Paramount Plus installation. You can check your TV's manual or look up your specific model number on LG's website to confirm whether it has webOS and app store access.

Practical Takeaway: Confirm that your LG TV is a Smart TV model with internet capability before attempting to install Paramount Plus. Check your TV's model number and look up its specifications to verify it supports apps.

Finding and Installing the Paramount Plus App

The LG app store is called LG Content Store or LG App Store, depending on your webOS version. To access it, look for an app store icon on your TV's home screen, usually displayed as a shopping bag or store symbol. Once you open the app store, you can search for Paramount Plus by typing the name using your remote control's keyboard function or voice search if your remote supports it.

After locating Paramount Plus in the LG Content Store, select it to open the app's store page. Here you will see information about the app, including its size, user ratings, and a brief description of what it offers. The page will display an "Install" button or similar option. Select this button to begin the installation process. The app will download and install automatically, which typically takes between one and five minutes depending on your internet speed.

During installation, your TV may display a progress bar showing the download status. You should not turn off your TV or unplug it during this time, as interrupting the process could cause the installation to fail. Once the installation completes, you will see a notification or the button will change to show "Open" or "Launch." At this point, you can open the app directly from the store page.

After installation, Paramount Plus should also appear on your TV's home screen or in an "Apps" section. You can typically reorganize your home screen to move the Paramount Plus app to a more convenient location. Different LG TV models allow you to move apps by selecting them, holding the button, and dragging them to a new position. This makes it easier to find and launch the app in the future without needing to open the app store each time.

If the installation fails or you see an error message, try these basic troubleshooting steps: restart your TV by unplugging it for 30 seconds, check your internet connection, clear your TV's cache (found in Settings), and try installing again. Sometimes storage space on your TV can be an issue, though Paramount Plus is relatively small and should not require significant space.

Practical Takeaway: Use your LG TV's app store to search for and install Paramount Plus, then locate the app on your home screen for easy access. If installation fails, restart your TV and check your internet connection before trying again.

Setting Up Your Paramount Plus Account

Once Paramount Plus is installed and opened on your LG TV, you will need to sign in with a Paramount Plus account. If you already have an account from using Paramount Plus on another device, you can sign in with those credentials. If you do not have an account yet, you will need to create one before you can watch content.

When you open the app for the first time, you should see a sign-in screen asking for your email address or username and password. Enter your information carefully, as incorrect details will prevent you from signing in. If you have forgotten your password, most streaming services, including Paramount Plus, offer a "Forgot Password" option that will guide you through resetting it. You will typically need access to the email address associated with your account to complete a password reset.

Creating a new Paramount Plus account on your TV may be possible directly through the app, or you may need to create it on another device first, such as a computer or smartphone. Some streaming services make it easier to create accounts on a computer because typing on a TV remote is slower than using a keyboard. Once your account is created, you can then sign in on your LG TV using those credentials.

After signing in, you may be asked to select your preferences, such as content ratings for parental controls or language settings. These settings help customize your viewing experience and can be changed later in the app's settings menu. Some Paramount Plus accounts may have different subscription tiers with varying levels of ad content, so you should be aware of which subscription type you have, as this will affect your viewing experience.

Paramount Plus allows you to create multiple user profiles within a single account. If multiple people in your household watch content, you can set up individual profiles. This allows the service to track viewing history separately for each person and provide customized recommendations. Setting up profiles is optional but can improve your experience if several people share the same TV.

Practical Takeaway: Sign in to your Paramount Plus account on your LG TV using existing credentials, or create a new account if you do not have one. Consider setting up multiple user profiles if several people will be watching on the same TV.

Using Paramount Plus on Your LG TV

Once you are signed in to Paramount Plus on your LG TV, the home screen will display featured shows and movies, organized into categories. You can scroll through these selections using your LG remote's arrow buttons. As you navigate, you will see information about each title, including its description, duration, rating, and availability. This layout is similar to other streaming services you may have used on your TV.

To find specific content, use the search function. Most LG TVs support voice search through compatible remotes, where you can say the title name or actor's name aloud. If your remote does not have voice capability, you can manually type your search using the remote's keyboard function, which displays letters on your screen as you select them. Searching is typically faster than scrolling through all available content, especially if you already know what you want to watch.

When you select a show or movie, you will see its details page with a longer description, cast information, release date, and episode or runtime information. For TV series, you will see a list of available seasons and episodes. You can select any episode to begin playing it. Once you start watching, you can pause, rewind, or fast-forward using your remote's standard controls. Most streaming services remember where you stopped watching, so you can resume from the same point later.

Paramount Plus offers several content categories to explore: movies, series, live sports, and news content depending on your subscription tier. You can also create a watchlist by selecting titles you want to watch later. This saves titles to a dedicated section so you can easily find them without searching again. Removing titles from your watchlist is just as simple—simply select the title again and choose to remove it.

The settings menu in Paramount Plus allows you to adjust playback quality, subtitle preferences, audio language, and other viewing options. If you experience buffering or video quality issues, you can change the streaming quality to a lower setting, though this may reduce picture clarity. If you have a high-speed internet connection, you can select higher quality options for sharper video.

Practical Takeaway: Navigate Paramount Plus using your LG remote's arrow keys or voice search, select content to watch, and use the settings menu to adjust quality and subtitle preferences based on your internet speed and personal preferences.
