How to Cancel Your Uber One Subscription Guide
Understanding Uber One Membership and Its Features
Uber One is a membership program that combines benefits from Uber and Uber Eats into a single subscription. The service costs $9.99 per month (or $99.99 per year when paid annually) and offers various perks designed to reduce delivery fees and provide discounts on food orders. Understanding what you're currently subscribed to is the first step in the cancellation process, as it helps you decide whether canceling truly meets your needs or if you might want to pause the membership temporarily instead.

The membership typically includes free delivery on Uber Eats orders above a certain minimum (usually $15), reduced delivery fees on smaller orders, priority customer support, and discounts on select restaurants and items. Some users find these benefits valuable if they order from Uber Eats regularly, while others discover they don't use the service frequently enough to justify the monthly cost. Analyzing your actual usage patterns over the past few months can reveal whether you're getting your money's worth from the $9.99 monthly charge.
Uber One also occasionally offers promotional periods where new or returning members can access the membership at a reduced rate or for free for a trial period. If you're still within a promotional period, understanding the terms of that promotion is important before canceling, as some promotional memberships may have specific conditions or expiration dates that affect your account status.
Practical takeaway: Before canceling, check your Uber and Uber Eats transaction history from the past three months to calculate how much you've spent on delivery fees. Compare this amount to what you've paid in Uber One membership fees ($29.97 for three months). If you're spending significantly less on delivery fees than the membership cost, cancellation makes financial sense for your situation.
Accessing Your Account Settings on Mobile and Web
Canceling your Uber One subscription requires navigating to your account settings, which can be done through either the Uber mobile app or the website. Both methods lead to the same result, though many users find the mobile app more intuitive for this process. The location of subscription settings is consistent across iOS and Android versions of the Uber app, making it relatively straightforward to find once you know where to look.

On the Uber mobile app, start by opening the application and tapping the account icon, which appears as a person silhouette typically located in the lower right corner of the screen. This action opens your account menu, where you'll see various options including "Wallet," "Your trips," "Help," and other account-related features. Look for an option labeled "Payments" or "Uber One" depending on your app version. Some app versions display an "Uber One" section directly in the account menu if you're currently subscribed. Tapping on this section takes you to your subscription details page, which shows your current membership status and payment information.
If you're using the Uber website on a computer or tablet, the process is similar but accessed differently. Log into your Uber account at uber.com, then look for the account menu, typically accessible by clicking on your profile picture or name in the upper right corner. This reveals a dropdown menu with options including "Account settings" or similar language. From the account settings page, locate the section for "Subscriptions" or "Uber One." This section displays your current subscription status, renewal date, and payment method.
Practical takeaway: Whether you use the app or website, take a screenshot of your subscription details before proceeding with cancellation. This documentation proves you had an active subscription at a specific date, which can be helpful if billing issues arise after cancellation or if you need to reference the cancellation date in the future.
Step-by-Step Cancellation Instructions
The actual cancellation process involves only a few clicks once you've navigated to your subscription information. On the mobile app, after you've accessed your Uber One membership details page, look for a button or link labeled "Cancel Membership," "Manage Subscription," or "Turn Off." The exact wording varies slightly between app versions and operating systems, but the function remains the same. Tapping this button initiates the cancellation process and typically presents you with a confirmation screen asking you to verify that you want to cancel.

Uber often presents retention offers when you attempt to cancel your subscription. These offers might include discounts on your next month, a free trial period, or a reduced membership rate. You can review these offers and decide whether any of them interest you, or you can proceed directly with the cancellation without accepting any retention offer. Choosing to decline these offers and continuing forward with cancellation is always an option; there's no obligation to accept alternative proposals to keep your membership active.
After confirming your cancellation choice, Uber displays a confirmation message indicating that your Uber One membership has been canceled. The timing of when your cancellation takes effect depends on your billing cycle. If you cancel before your next billing date, you'll retain access to your membership benefits until that date, after which your membership ends. If you cancel after a charge has already been processed, you may be eligible for a refund depending on Uber's policies and your circumstances. The confirmation screen usually specifies when your membership will end and whether any refund is being processed.
For website cancellations, the process mirrors the app experience. From your subscription management page, locate and click the cancellation option, review any retention offers that appear, confirm your decision, and receive a confirmation message. Some users find the website version slightly clearer in displaying refund status and exact cancellation dates, though both methods accomplish the same result.
Practical takeaway: After completing cancellation, you should receive a confirmation email within a few minutes at the email address associated with your Uber account. Save this email in a folder designated for financial records or account changes, as it serves as proof of cancellation date and can help resolve any disputed charges that occur after the cancellation.
What Happens to Your Benefits After Cancellation
Understanding the timeline of your membership ending is important for planning your Uber and Uber Eats usage going forward. Your Uber One benefits don't end immediately upon clicking the cancellation button; instead, they continue through the end of your current billing cycle. If your membership renews on the 15th of each month and you cancel on the 5th, you retain all Uber One benefits (free delivery, discounts, priority support) until the 14th. Only on the 15th does your membership status change from active to cancelled, and your benefits cease.

Once your membership ends, several changes occur in your Uber and Uber Eats experience. Delivery fees return to their standard rates rather than the reduced rates Uber One members receive. Minimum order requirements may apply to unlock free delivery promotions, and these minimums are typically higher than what Uber One members face. You'll no longer have access to exclusive restaurant discounts that were part of your membership benefits. Customer support may take longer to respond to inquiries, as Uber One members receive priority support. Any wallet credits, promotions, or coupons that were specific to your Uber One membership will no longer apply.
However, canceling your Uber One membership doesn't delete your account or affect your ability to use Uber or Uber Eats. Your ride history, saved locations, payment methods, and account information all remain intact. You can continue ordering from Uber Eats or requesting rides through Uber at standard (non-member) rates. You can also reactivate an Uber One membership at any time in the future by navigating back to your account settings and selecting the option to renew your subscription. Reactivating after cancellation may make you eligible for promotional offers aimed at returning members.
Practical takeaway: Before your membership officially ends, consider placing any orders you've been planning, as you can still benefit from reduced delivery fees during your remaining membership days. Make note of your membership end date so you're not surprised by higher delivery fees on your next post-cancellation order.
Addressing Billing and Refund Questions
One of the most common concerns about canceling a subscription involves whether you'll receive a refund for the membership fee you've already paid. Uber's refund policy for Uber One cancellations depends on when you cancel relative to your billing date. If you cancel before your billing renewal date arrives, you're not charged again, and no refund is typically issued because you retain access to your membership benefits through the end of your current billing period. For example, if you paid $9.99 on March 1st and cancel on March 15th, you keep your membership through March 31st (or your specific renewal date), and you don't receive a refund because you're still receiving the
